Bike Helmet Sticker Calls for Help if it Detects a Fall

ICEdot (In Case of Emergency) partnered with SenseTech LLC to develop a helmet-mounted impact sensor.

The innovative wireless sensor — which looks like a plain, yellow sticker — can detect motion, changes in forces and impacts that occur when the rider has fallen.

It then communicates with the ICEdot app on the user’s smartphone using Bluetooth and automatically alerts their emergency contact with a GPS coordinate of the fall and its severity.

This data is sent after a countdown clock reaches zero, so if you dropped the helmet accidentally, you can avert the emergency notification being sent using the app. The ICEdot sensor will initially be targeted towards action sports athletes, cyclists, and those who take part in snow sports, skateboarding, motocross and BMX.
